Do it. Pick one and hand-copy it. Tell me what you have learned!
Want to become a character in an instant?
Try wearing a hat. Walk around with it, talk to other people, look at the mirror, do your daily tasks with it and talk. After a few hours take it off. See what stays with you!
Boundaries
Boundaries are important for all of us. They keep us safe and therefore we give more easily. Carry a colorful tape or a rope with you and place them where you want them before your audience arrives. You’ll be surprised to see what I thin line can do for people…

A fast trick for communicative writing
Recently I’ve led a workshop for professionals who write textbooks for school. Although they came us with the idea they might get some help from a storyteller, I was looking for a way to make a point and give a tool at the same time. I asked them to hold a text close and tell it from the page to another adult sitting in front of them. They could feel how the experience was different and at the same time experienced themselves editing as they were going through the text. Editing – not only the text itself but the way they were serving the listener and retelling.
So if you want to use a text written by a single person and tell it, try this advice – tell it to an adult and you’ll find yourself adapting as reading.
